This week’s DIY makeover has to be one of my favorites! When we first bought our house, there was an old, worn down, and discolored stair runner that NEEDED to go. When we got our floors refinished, we had the flooring professionals remove the runner, and refinish the stairs. While the tops of the stairs now looked beautiful, the backs were discolored from the original rug, and needed some help!

I had been seeing the trend of tiled stair risers, and was in LOVE! Everything in our home is modeled after grey moroccan tile, so I fell in love with the idea of adding this design detail to our stairs. Now the stairs definitely are not the focal point of our home, but I still believe carrying prominent design details throughout the entire house is really important to form a cohesive design.
Soon after researching tile for the stair risers, I realized it was not in the budget. What I did stumble across were tile STICKERS! Now I did not even know these existed, but I am completely in love. I decided to purchase stickers to adhere to every other stair riser, and I got them from this Etsy shop!
After finalizing our design plan, it was time to prep the stairs. We sanded all of the stair risers and removed any leftover staples still remaining from the runner. Next, any stair risers we were not putting stickers on we painted white. When it came time to apply the stickers, I was SHOCKED as to how easily they applied! It took me about 10 minutes in total, and the material of the stickers are durable and super adhesive!
We still need to touch up the white paint in spots above the stickers we did not get to before, but what do you all think of the finished result?!
